• How to install Windows 8/8.1 to M2 mSATA SSD on ThinkPad Yoga

When installing Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on a mSATA SSD in the ThinkPad Yoga, you need to make sure ‘UEFI/Legacy Boot’ is set to ‘UEFI Only’, otherwise Windows 8/8.1 will refuse to install complaining a required driver is missing.
  • Hello 'Real' TrackPoint buttons

Apparently, the new ThinkPad Helix 2 will feature real trackpoint buttons, and not the hybrid TrackPoint and TrackPad buttons that we have seen in the ThinkPad Helix. This is a great piece of news, as the hybrid TrackPoint buttons were never that great. I had a hard time getting used to the hybrid TrackPoint buttons in the T440s, X1 Carbon, ThinkPad Yoga, X240 and W540. After one year, i am still getting use to them, talk about a steep learning curve. Hopefully, the dedicated trackpoint button that is making a come back in the ThinkPad Helix 2 will be a sign of things to come for the rest of the ThinkPad range (i have a feeling it is, wink wink).
  • Windows Phone 8.1 Review

Most people avoid Windows Phone due to its lack available apps on the Windows Phone Store. But the question is, how many of them have tried Windows Phone longer than the time they needed to write their review?
  • How to enable F8 key to go into safe mode upon boot for Windows 8 and later.

Many of you remember that we used to press F8 upon boot to go into safe mode. With Windows 8 and later this is disabled by default to reduce boot times.
  • ThinkPad 8 Tablet, a tablet that DOes MORE

I have being using the ThinkPad 8 Tablet for almost 2 months now, and i have to say that it has being the best Windows 8 tablet that i have ever used so far. I love the build quality and the small size. Basically it is about the same size as my iPad Mini, and yet it can run all the Windows software that my ThinkPad T61 can, which is unbelievable. I have being looking for a full Windows 8 Tablet in the 7 to 8 inch form factor since the start of the 2013, and while the Acer Iconia W3 was the first to come to market with such device, it is severely hampered by the TN LCD that Acer decided to use on the tablet. Many other computer companies like Lenovo waited till the release of Bay Trail Atom SoC to release their 8 inch full Windows 8.1 tablet, rather than coming to market early with the Clover Trail Atom 8 inch tablet. I think Lenovo has done an excellent job with deciding to release the 8 inch ThinkPad Tablet using the new 22 nm Bay Trail Atom SoC, which claims twice the CPU and GPU performance as compared to the previous generation Clover Trail Atom SoC, while at the same time using less battery and generationg less heat, which all important factors to consider in a small tablet.
  • Color Profiles for current ThinkPads

ThinkPad screens are not calibrated by factory - whether TN screens or IPS screen, they have a color miss-alignment in almost every case when you first use them. For example, IPS / AHVA screens like the FHD AUO screen used in the T440s or the Panasonic FHD++ / 3K screen in the W540 often have a greenish or yellowish tint, whereas the common lower end TN screen often have a bluish tint.
  • Carpet Screen issue on ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 2

If you are experiencing garbled or messy display, where the pictures are scrambled in a checkerboard manner, and that your laptop no longer responds to keyboard or trackpoint/trackpad input. Then you should call Lenovo Service, and most likely you would need to get your motherboard replaced by Service.
  • Diagnose Touch Screen Issue in Lenovo laptop

If you have a Lenovo laptop with touchscreen, and your screen touch doesn’t work in the windows OS environment. There are several ways to diagnose whether this is a hardware or software issue. The most easiest method to diagnose the hardware issue, is to actually boot into the BIOS menu and test the touchscreen feature in that environment.
  • Changing the amount of pre-allocated vram memory

If you have an integrated Intel GPU on the ThinkPad T440/T440p/T440s/X240/X1 Carbon/ThinkPad Yoga, etc (anything with Haswell CPU), you have the option to change the pre-allocated memory for your video card.
