So after going through the ThinkPad X1 Helix user manual described in my previous posts, i have noticed some interesting information about this yet to be released ThinkPad that may interest some of you people.
Once again thanks to IBMThink from Germany, whom dug up the soon to be released ThinkPad Helix specification from a Chinese user manual (once again publicly available). The full name of the new product is the ThinkPad X1 Helix, according to the manual the new machine would have the following specification.
The easiest way to force ThinkPad W520 and ThinkPad W530 to run with only Nividia discrete or Intel integrated GPU, is to do it through the laptop’s BIOS menu. ThinkPad W520 and W530 BIOS menu allows the user to switch between Nvidia Optimus, Integrated Graphics, and Discrete Graphics.
ThinkPad was the first laptop to come with a inbuilt LED lighting system to illuminate keyboard for use in the dark. Since then ThinkPadders have came to expect the presence of a Thinklight (or two in W7xx) in their much beloved ThinkPads (although there were some ThinkPads that did without it, i.e. ThinkPad X series Tablet). However, when backlit keyboard came to the market (and popularised by the Macbook Pro) fierce debates started to rage among ThinkPad traditionalists and ThinkPad renaissance supporters, as to whether the ThinkPad still should have Thinklight.
If you are getting the ThinkPad X220 or ThinkPad X230, and is wondering whether you should be getting the more expensive IPS Premium LCD, then this post should help you make up your mind (hopefully).
Someone on Twitter presumably a Lenovo staff recently mentioned about some new ThinkPads that goes by the name of Santana, Rogue and Oasis. He also showed a picture containing a stack of new ThinkPad laptops that contains one of the new laptop amongst them (This story was first reported by ibmthink at NBR forum). So what are these new ThinkPad laptops? are they the actual name of the new ThinkPad laptop (like Twist and Helix)? or are they code names for a generation of new laptops that Lenovo going to bring out next year? Initially, i speculated that these new laptops are the new replacements for the T, W and L series that is coming out next year. But apparently i am wrong, they are actually the new X series that is coming out next year?
So someone sent me an email asking me how to switch the graphics card in the ThinkPad T430u equipped with the Nvidia GPU (the principle is the same for other ThinkPad with switchable graphics card).
